Nvidia’s Possible Perplexity Investment and AI Search

Nvidia may invest in Perplexity at a valuation above $30 billion as the AI search company’s annualized revenue reportedly surges past $750 million.

This Daily AI Chat Short explains why the world’s dominant AI chip supplier might want an equity stake in a fast-growing application-layer search platform. Perplexity’s annualized revenue has more than tripled from under $250 million at the beginning of 2026, helping drive a potential valuation roughly 50% above its reported September 2025 level.

The possible deal could tighten the relationship between AI infrastructure and consumer-facing applications, give Nvidia greater exposure to inference-driven growth, and reshape competition with Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and other companies building conversational search tools.

What to watch

A potential valuation is not the amount Nvidia would necessarily invest. Annualized revenue is also different from revenue already booked over a full year. Keeping those measures separate makes it easier to assess the strategic relationship between infrastructure suppliers and application businesses.
