Anthropic’s Nscale Deal: Compute, Chips, and Power
Anthropic is reportedly committing $45 billion over six years to rent AI computing power from Nscale’s West Virginia data-center campus. The agreement covers about 460 megawatts and will use Nvidia Vera Rubin chips to meet growing demand for products including Claude Code.
This Short explains why electricity, chips and data-center capacity have become the defining bottlenecks of frontier AI—and what the deal means for Anthropic, Nvidia, specialized cloud providers and the US infrastructure race.

What to watch
Large computing commitments connect model demand to long-lived physical infrastructure. The useful questions include delivery schedules, available power, financing, and how capacity is utilized over time. A headline contract value does not mean every planned facility or service is already operational.
